Designs by Berks Plant Design include:

• Automatic Vial unscrambler/wrap labeler for Becton Dickinson Biosciences Inc. The unit automatically singulates and applies a full wrap label to delicate glass vials. Rated for 250 vials per minute upon conception, the unit was actually running at 320 vials per minute on site during tests. Included changeover for 6 differently sized vials. Entire machine constructed of 316L stainless steel and ultra high molecular weight plastic. We have since constructed a duplicate for the plant.
   
• Automatic hot glue laminator for Stand-easy inc. Unit laminates polyvinyl nitrate foam to live rubber non-skid material at a rate of 35' per min. A specialty hot glue and dispersion system were employed.
   
• High speed print and apply labeler designed to apply tamper evident labels to DVD cases. The labels were printed at high speed, applied, and wiped down on two adjacent panels. A custom designed magazine fed the unit. The label was applied such that it adhered to three sides of the case rendering it inaccessible until after purchase.
   
• Custom Tu-wire ballast labeler for Lutron Inc. The ballasts required labels on both top and bottom. On top of the ballast, two pins protruded over which the label had to be placed. The labels had die-cut holes with only .050 radial clearance from the pins. The ballast top also had depressions into which "ears" on the label had to be permanently affixed. A custom machine was designed to apply both labels in one cycle while utilizing a compound applicator to press the "ears" into the depressions. Unit was required to be completely shielded for electro-static discharge. This unit is still in operation in the Caribbean.
